Project Summary

The goal of this project is to improve human and civil rights status in the Pallisa district, found in the north eastern part of Uganda.  The objective of the project is to increase access to higher education for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in the Pallisa district. The specific objective of the project is to pay education fees, gender balanced, for at least six OVC within the PACODET area.  The project will be managed by PACODET and cover 10 parishes in the Pallisa district.  PACODET will oversee resource mobilization; launch the project; select beneficiaries; pay education fees; conduct quarterly review meetings; conduct annual review meetings; and produce quarterly and annual reports.

The education costs that include tuition, uniform, books, transport and pocket money for the six beneficiaries in the first year will cost 12,000,000 UGX (equivalent to US $ 7,000). The cost in the subsequent years increases by 12,000,000 UGX (equivalent to US $ 7,000) annually to cater for new beneficiaries. In Uganda higher education lasts for at least six years for one to graduate with first degree. So this means that education cost will increase by 12,000,000 UGX annually to maximum of 72,000,000 UGX (equivalent to US $ 42,000) in the sixth year when the first beneficiaries qualify.
